THE STORY BEHIND THE BRAND
Hi, I’m Leslie.
Photographer, food blogger, and the founder behind Bessie Bakes.
In 2015 I started a food blog and recipe site called Bessie Bakes— named after my great-grandmother Bessie. I fell in love with food photography, but quickly ran into a wall: beautiful, affordable backdrops simply didn’t exist. Equipment costs were steep, and the options that were available felt generic or out of reach for independent creators.
Four years of shooting, styling, and problem-solving later, I decided to build the thing I wished existed. In 2019 I launched Bessie Bakes Backdrops — professional-quality photography surfaces made for business owners, food and product photographers, and social media creators who want their images to pop without breaking the bank.
